Guide for Paper Submission

The Madabo Journal of Humanities welcomes the submission of unpublished scholarly articles and well-developed book reviews in the broad fields of languages, literature, culture, and related areas within the humanities. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original works that have not been previously published in print or electronic form and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. All submissions should be sent electronically via email to the journal’s editorial office.

    1.1 Acceptable Languages

The journal accepts manuscripts written in English, Arabic, and Hausa.

    1.2 Formatting and Arrangement

Full-length research articles are expected to follow standard academic structure. Manuscripts should normally include the major sections such as an abstract, keywords, introduction, data or methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, and references. Where necessary, additional sections such as appendices may also be included. Other types of submissions, including book reviews, poems, essays, and short communications, should follow appropriate scholarly structure and style relevant to their form.

    1.2.1 Page Format

Unless otherwise approved by the Editorial Board of the Faculty of Humanities at Northwest University Kano, submitted articles should not exceed 20 double-spaced pages, including notes, and should be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font. Manuscripts should be arranged in a single column with 1-inch margins on all sides. For Hausa language texts, authors are required to use the standard universal Hausa hooked letters.

    1.2.2 Article Title

Titles of papers should be clear, concise, and informative, and should generally not exceed 20 words, except where a longer title is clearly necessary.

    1.2.3 Name(s) and Affiliation(s)

The full name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) of the author or authors should appear directly below the title of the paper. Only the contact details of the corresponding author are required, specifically the email address and phone number.

    1.2.4 Abstract

Every manuscript must include an abstract of approximately 200 words. The abstract should briefly state the objectives of the study, the methodology used, and the major findings or contributions of the research. It should be written as a single paragraph with single line spacing.

    1.2.5 Keywords

Keywords should appear immediately after the abstract. Authors are required to provide at least three keywords that clearly reflect the focus of the paper.

    1.2.6 Citations and References

All in-text citations and the reference list must follow the current APA referencing style. Where necessary, manuscripts should include footnotes rather than endnotes, and these should be inserted and numbered automatically using a word processor.

    2.0 Review Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a single-blind peer review process. Each paper is first assessed by the editorial team to ensure that it fits the scope and standards of the journal. Suitable manuscripts are then sent to qualified reviewers for academic evaluation before a final decision on publication is made.

    3.0 Plagiarism

All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be free from any form of plagiarism. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original and properly referenced before submission.

    4.0 Fees

The journal charges a 5,000 review fee and a 25,000 processing fee for authors paying in Nigerian Naira. For international authors, or authors who prefer to pay in U.S. dollars, the fees are $10 for review and $50 for processing. From time to time, the journal may grant fee waivers at its discretion.

Note: Authors may contact the journal’s editorial office for further information regarding submission and publication procedures at: madabojournal@nwu.edu.ng or madabojournal@gmail.com.
